      Camrose, Alberta

Camrose Chamber Hosts Sold-Out Battle River–Crowfoot By-Election Candidate Forum July 29

Livestream extends public access; non-partisan event moderated by Alberta Chamber President & CEO Shauna Feth.

The Camrose & District Chamber of Commerce will host a Battle River–Crowfoot By-Election Candidate Forum on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre – Cargill Theatre in Camrose. Doors open to the public at 6:30 PM. The event is ticketed but free of charge through Camrose Live; all in-person seats are now sold out. A livestream will be available to the public, with on-demand viewing remaining open for 48 hours following the event to ensure broad regional access.

      Purpose

The forum is being convened to:

      • Provide constituents an opportunity to hear directly from registered candidates in a respectful, informative, and non-partisan setting.
      • Support civic engagement and informed voting ahead of the by-election.

      Participation & Selection Policy

Candidates were confirmed through a public registration process that closed Friday, July 18 at 4:00 PM (MT). Participation was capped at 10 candidates to preserve a meaningful exchange within venue and time limits presented by an unusually long ballot. A publicly posted Forum Participation Policy—developed in consultation with Elections Canada for guidance on fairness and transparency—outlined the following contingency if registrations had exceed capacity:

      1. Priority invitation to candidates representing major registered parties.
      2. Remaining spots allocated by random draw (lottery) among independent and smaller-party candidates.
      3. Ultimately, 10 candidates registered by the deadline, so a lottery draw was not required.

        Quote

“The Camrose & District Chamber of Commerce is proud to offer this forum as a civic service to our community. Given the number of registered candidates and the limited time available, we implemented a fair, transparent, and clearly communicated process to ensure a manageable and meaningful event. We remain committed to non-partisan engagement and thank all candidates and voters for their participation.”
Jennifer Fossen, President, Camrose & District Chamber of Commerce
