The Value of Business Awards

While many businesses take on a wide variety of initiatives in order to grow their earnings, some have discovered the strategic value of business awards. Often, a small business will struggle to establish recognition and credibility in the market place. A business award win or nomination can open doors and have a greater impact on the growth of a small community.

Being nominated and winning is a win-win for everyone. Not every company or business can walk away as the first place winner of the Business Awards but businesses will emerge from the process a better business with virtually no outlay or risk.

History:

Camrose Small Businesses of the Year are recognized annually during Alberta Small Business Week. The awards are presented at the Camrose Chamber of Commerce Small Business Week Banquet held in October. Upon the discretion of the Small Business Week Committee, winners may be submitted to the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction for Provincial recognition.

The Awards:

The Small Business of the Year Award is open to all businesses with up to 25 employees. The winner will be selected by the Camrose Chamber of Commerce Small Business Week Committee whose decision will be final.

The Community Spirit Award (any size business or non-profit, with any number of employees).  Awarded to a business who contributes significantly to recreation, amateur sports, arts and culture, education, charitable groups and business development/promotion of the city.

The Business of the Year Award is open to all business with more than 26 employees.

The Franchise Business of the Year Award will be awarded to the independently owned and operated franchise business which meets the elegibility and selection guidelines.

The Camrose Ambassador of the Year Award will be presented to someone who tirelessly volunteers their time and efforts to promoting Camrose and surrounding area.

New in 2009 is the Business Appreciation Award, sponsored by Battle River Area Economic Development. This award is open to all businesses within the City and County of Camrose whose major business activity takes place within the BRAED region in east central Alberta and whose head office is located within the City of Camrose or Camrose County.  The winner will be selected by BRAED representatives and the Camrose Chamber of Commerce Small Business Week Committee.
